CITIZENSHIP

Citizens can benefit from Forvik's status in two ways:

There will be a land-owning citizenry (only open to Shetland residents) - 8000 plots will be available to buy at a cost of 2 Forvik Gulden. Land-owning citizens will form a 'Ting', or parliament. They are entitled to vote and participate in the island's unique open direct democracy system, deciding how the income of Forvik is to be used. The Ting will decide how the island's income is spent and what projects are undertaken - how much is spent on capital projects, on promotion, a legal fighting fund, or distributed as profit to the citizens, etc. The size of each plot does not allow for any building to be erected. It is simply a symbolic means of being a landowner on the island.

People from other parts of the world can become honorary Forvik citizens at a cost of 1 Forvik Gulde. Honorary citizens support the ideals and aspirations of Forvik and are entitled to a share in the distribution of profits as decided by The Ting.

Initially I expected only to be able to offer token citizenship papers, but thanks to the contacts I have made since the Declaration, it will now be possible to offer meaningful non-resident citizenships with the opportunity to purchase a real passport. Those wishing for this will need to supply documentation proving identity. otherwise you can still become an Honorary Citizen - benefiting from the profits distribution and supporting Forvik's aims. There are still some details to sort out on the passports, but that will be sorted in the next few days. Thanks for your patience.
